S. minor<\/em>\u00a0is\u00a0immediately\u00a0recognizable for it’s hooded and domed pitcher as well as the striking translucent patches that speckle the upper half of the pitchers back. These unique are thought to lure insects foraging\u00a0into the pitcher mouth, which is otherwise very dark because the downward pointed lid covers the pitcher opening. After feeding on the\u00a0nectaries\u00a0around the pitcher opening insects are drawn towards the bright light passing through the\u00a0translucent sections of the pitcher during the day and fall into the pitcher as they move toward the light. With it’s truly unique and sophisticated trapping\u00a0strategy,\u00a0S. minor<\/em>\u00a0is a must have for any collection!<\/span><\/p>\n
