One of the true wonders of the plant kingdom, the spectacular Nepenthes macrophylla<\/em> is found only on the misty upper slopes of \u00a0Mount Trusmadi, Sabah, Malysian Borneo. \u00a0As far as looks go N. macrophylla<\/em> has it all! It’s capable of producing immense, woody red\/orange pitchers, with sinister flanged teeth adorning the pitcher rim. If it wasn’t bizarre enough the pitchers of N. macrophylla<\/em> along with N. lowii<\/em> and N . rajah<\/em> have been shown to derive considerable fertilization from functioning as toilets for resident\u00a0mountain tree shrews (Tupaia montana)!<\/em>\u00a0Mature specimens are truly formidable plants that can produce huge leaves and live for many decades. That said N. macrophylla<\/em> is incredibly rare, requires stable highland growing conditions, good light, and is very slow growing during it’s first few years.<\/span><\/p>\n

Si ce n’\u00e9tait pas assez bizarre les pichets de N. macrophylla<\/em> avec N. lowii<\/em> et N.rajah<\/em> Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9montr\u00e9 que le tire une fertilisation consid\u00e9rable de ses fonctions de toilettes pour les musaraignes montagnardes r\u00e9sidentes (Tupaia montana)! Les sp\u00e9cimens matures sont des plantes vraiment formidables qui peuvent produire d’\u00e9normes feuilles et vivre pendant plusieurs d\u00e9cennies.
